Founder of a revolutionary artist residency model

The Enclave is a pioneering residency platform built to give creators, thinkers, and cultural leaders sustained time and space for serious work. It moves beyond traditional residency models by connecting generously offered homes and retreat spaces around the world with Fellows who seek deep immersion in their practice, free from the usual pressures of performance or production. Christopher Hibma

Rather than a fixed campus, The Enclave is a network of spaces curated for solitude, focus, and creative renewal. Fellows choose when and where they go, spending up to two weeks at a time in environments that support deep thinking, writing, composition, and reflection. Residencies unfold with flexibility and without prescribed outcomes. What matters is the inner shape of the work that emerges.

The project grows from a belief that creativity thrives when space is held generously and unhurriedly. It experiments with what I call reciprocal philanthropy — hosts offer unused spaces freely and Fellows bring their full presence and creativity into those places, activating them with thought and care.

The Enclave is not just about giving artists rooms to work. It is about reimagining the conditions that allow creative life to flourish. It asks a fundamental question. What new cultural realities become possible when time, trust, and intentional quiet are built into the ecosystems that support creative work?
